Culture surveys carried out in 2026 by the Statistical Office in Krakow

Introduction

The results of statistical research in the area of culture illustrate its potential for socio-economic development. They are used for the needs of government and local government administrations and published in the publications of the Statistics Poland, statistical offices or industry publications.

Culture statistics provide information on entities operating in the area of culture, cinematography, means of mass communication, archival activities, mass artistic and entertainment events, the market of works of art and antiques, the finances of cultural institutions, cultural expenditures of the state budget, local government units and households. The also cover artistic education, participation in culture, cultural and creative industries and the culture satellite account.

In all surveys conducted by the Statistics Poland, the principle of legal protection of statistical confidentiality is strictly upheld. This means that the information collected during the surveys cannot and will not be used for any purpose other than statistical analysis. As a result, the confidentiality of the data is fully guaranteed.

All employees of public statistics are bound by an oath to maintain statistical confidentiality.

K-01 Report on Artistic and Entertainment Activities

Date: 05.01-23.01.2026

The aim of the survey is to provide information on entities that organise artistic and entertainment activities, including professional drama, puppet and music theatres, philharmonics, orchestras, choirs, song and dance ensembles, as well as enterprises and entertainment agencies. The report contains data on the unit’s location, the facility’s adaptation to the needs of disabled people, the type of unit, the number of seats in a permanent hall, the number of performances (concerts) held during the year, the attendance at organised events. It also includes information on the number of presentations of artists and foreign ensembles as well as attendance at these performances (concerts). In addition, the report covers the digitalisation of the institution's resources and the number of staff, as well as online activities, including the number of online performances (concerts), events and participants.

K-02 Report on the Activities of the Museums and Institutions Related to Museum

Date: 07.01-27.01.2026

 

The aim of the survey is to provide information on the activities of museums and institutions related to museum (zoos, botanical gardens and other units,  planetariums, science and technology centres, as well as other permanent non-museum exhibitions presenting achievements, discoveries and curiosities in the area of history, archaeology, culture, nature, technology, etc.). The survey collects data on the types of museums and institutions related to museum, their organisers, location, the facility’s adaptation to the needs of disabled people, collections, exhibitions organised in Poland and abroad, and the number of visitors to museums and museum exhibitions. The report also includes information on the digitisation, storage and conservation of the unit's collections, as well as data on the employees.

K-03 Library Report

Date: 09.01-06.02.2026

The aim of the survey is to provide information on public and pedagogical libraries and their branches, as well as scientific, specialised or fiction and specialised libraries, libraries of scientific societies, and  libraries of centres of scientific, technical and economic information (INTE). The survey collects data on the types of library facilities, library users, the number of loans and access to collections, and various aspects of library operations and infrastructure. The report includes data on the facility’s adaptation to the needs of disabled people, library opening hours, usable floor area, the number of user places for (including places for disabled people) and the level of computerisation, as well as data on the number of library points and branches for children/youth.

K-05 Report on Exhibition Activities

Date: 09.01.-26.01.2026

The aim of the survey is to provide information on exhibition activities carried out by art galleries. The scope of the collected data includes collections and exhibition activities in Poland and abroad, information on visitors and other forms of activity as well as the conservation and digitisation of collections, adaptation of the facility’s adaptation the needs of disabled people. The section on online activities contains data on online exhibitions, events and their participants.

K-06 Report on Film Production

Date: 06.02-20.02.2026

The aim of the study is to provide information on the production of full-length, medium-length and short  films, by titles and medium, including feature films, documentaries and cartoons produced for cinema and television. It also covers information on the production of television series.

K-07 Report on the Activities of Centres of Culture, Cultural Centres and Establishments, Clubs and Community Centres

Date: 23.01-24.02.2026

The aim of the study is to provide information on the infrastructure and activities of centres of culture, cultural centres and establishments, clubs and community centres, including the number of cultural events organised, the number of participants, as well as the number of artistic groups and clubs/sections and their members, and courses and their graduates. The section on publishing activities provides data on the number of titles and the circulation of promotional materials, periodicals, publishing series and other publications, in both printed and electronic form. The report also includes information on the digitisation of the institution's resources, online activities (including the number of events, courses and participants), and the facility’s adaptation to the needs of disabled people.

K-08 Cinema Report

The aim of the study is to provide information on the basic and supplementary activities of cinemas, including their infrastructure, audiences, the number of screenings of Polish, European and other foreign films, as well as the facility’s adaptation to the needs of disabled people.

K-09 Report on the Organisation of Mass Events

Date: 27.01-20.02.2026

The aim of the survey is to provide information about the organisation of mass events, their organisers and participants. For statistical purposes, mass events are classified as artistic, entertainment and sports events. Within the category of artistic and entertainment events, the following types are distinguished: concerts, presentations and performances, film shows/ film screenings, festivals, cabarets, circus shows, historical re-enactments, combined events e.g. film screenings and cabaret, and other events.

K-10 Report on the Activity on the Market of Works of Art and Antiques

Date: 16.02-02.03.2026

The aim of the survey is to provide information on the activities of entities operating on the market of works of art and antiques, including those engaged in the sale of their own works and those selling on a commission basis. These entities include auction houses, art galleries, antique shops and artist's galleries. The survey collects data on the sale of works of art and antiques by type and distribution channel, as well as on forms of business and cooperation with other entities.

The aim of the survey is to provide quarterly information on the financial results of cultural institutions, including the profit and loss account, net sales revenues and equivalent items, other operating revenues, financial income, operating costs, other operating costs, financial costs, and expenditures on new assets, the purchase of used fixed assets, and intangible assets.

F-02/dk Annual Report on the Finances of Cultural Institutions

Date: 06.03-31.03.2026

The aim of the survey is to provide annual information on the financial results of cultural institutions. The form contains an extended version of the profit and loss account, which lists the categories that increase or decrease the financial result. Reporting entities also provide data on the balance sheet, fixed assets, as well as the number of employees and average paid employment.
